Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I’ve work with the class of 2018 since their freshman year as part of the Public Safety Academy. Many of them have spent many hours completing college applications, creating study groups for the SAT, while continuing to complete all work assigned in their classes. Most of them not only participate as active members of the public safety academy but also are involved in other school activities, work, and home responsibilities.
These students have spent countless hours volunteering throughout their high school career and always unselfishly willing to help others.
My Project
I’ve work with the class of 2018 since their freshman year as part of the Public Safety Academy. Many of them have spent many hours completing college applications, creating study groups for the SAT, while continuing to complete all work assigned in their classes. Most of them not only participate as active members of the public safety academy but also are involved in other school activities, work, and home responsibilities.
The students in the academy are interested in fields such as law enforcement, paramedic, or fire fighting and will continue furthering their interest and education attending local four year colleges and universities.
Some students have decided they will further their education out of state and attend universities in the East coast.
Most of our students come from low income households they will also be first generation college students by providing them with study and dorm supplies we can help them keep better focus in college and help them further their education. Calendars and planners will help students keep on track with their assignments and the study materials will get them ready for their first year of college. Highlighters and Pens will keep students organized by tracking their assignments using their planners. For morning or evening classes students can also take take their coffee/water mug with them to classes and not have to spend extra on items on campus. I've also requested a set of USB drive so students can have access to save their assignments and essays. Some e-books are also can be used using this USB drive. Since I teach economics and had taught about budgeting I've also included some budget planners so students can begin to independently track and budget for their personal expenses.
