This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Put technology into the hands of our youth, and watch in awe at what they create. I teach journalism and sponsor the student newspaper. My students are in grades 9-12. My school is in an urban, impoverished community.
Many of my students are at-risk, high-need children who don't have a lot of support. The majority of my students are African-American. Our school district has suffered severely from recent budget cut backs.
I need your help! Motivation is key when it comes to today's generation of students. My students love working with technology. Podcasting would be an excellent way to get them engaged and show them that learning can indeed be fun. With the Flip video camera and the iPod, my students will be able to work in small groups to create podcasts to share with other students not only at our school but all over the globe. The possibilities are endless. Once they get inspired, it's go, go, go!
It is only with your financial support that I will be able to bring this hands-on project to my students. This type of real-world instruction will give the students a sense of purpose and prepare them for college and beyond. The workforce is looking for experience. In today's competitive rat race, technology know-how isn't just a plus, it's a must! Your donation will facilitate that process for children that may not even have a computer at home. Every contribution counts, no matter how small. Thank you for all that you do. Your good deeds are touching lives.
