My classroom is one of 12 in the public school system. Our school has three outdoor playground areas, as well as one covered patio space that the classes share. Our classroom is a small and cozy space set up for 4- and 5-year-olds. We use hands-on learning centers, small group, and whole instruction to help the students grow and thrive in our program.
Each year, our lively bunch of 4- and 5-year-olds are eager to explore the world around us.
Our students come to us from all backgrounds. The PreK campus is the first structured learning environment for many of the students. We want to provide the best experiences for them. Our classroom places a strong emphasis on social emotional learning in addition to literacy, math, and science skills. We believe that a strong PreK foundation sets the stage for student successes for life!
My Project
Teaching during the pandemic is hard. In the classroom I have materials for students to use. What happens when there is a quarantine or a shift to online learning? I want to give my students the best chance to succeed by providing them individual supply bags - PreK on the Go bags!
My students need a set of materials that they can use at home along with me while we are doing live computer school lessons.
These bags will provide counters, literacy and math manipulatives, and fine motor materials to help their families continue our PreK lessons at home. Lacing beads will help build fine motor strength. Letter and number cards will help us play learning games together. I want to give every student these materials to keep the impact of PreK strong.
