Help me give my students the Insect Lore Deluxe Ladybug land, insect counters, books about insects, and insect manipulatives to use in our sensory bin and throughout the classroom.
At our school, we firmly believe that all children, no matter what their cognitive levels are, have the capacity to learn. Through this belief, we as teachers are constantly finding creative and new learning approaches to help our students be successful.
This year I am working with twenty amazing 4-year-old preschool students attending our full day preschool program.
These students are either attending preschool for the very first time or transitioning from half-day to full day. The students come from various cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds which lends itself to a diverse classroom environment. The students also have different learning preferences whether it is visual, kinesthetic or auditory.
Regardless of their backgrounds and their learning preference, all of the students are eager to learn and explore their world around them. My goal is to give them as many tools as possible to become active and engaged learners. So far this year has been fantastic! These students have been so excited receiving items that we have had funded through DonorsChoose.org. I love seeing the excitement on their faces as they explore new materials that help enhance our learning program. We are always grateful when a project gets funded!
We will be starting our insect study soon within the classroom. While I have some materials for this unit, I would like to be able to supplement the materials I have with items that I know will be of interest to my students. The items listed in this project will give us a good start.
I have 20 inquisitive scientists that are ready to explore insects!
Adding the materials to our study that you can help provide by donating to this project will enhance their learning experience. We already have a butterfly and ant habitat ready to go. I would love to be able to add the ladybug habitat as well especially in order make a literacy connection with "The Very Grouchy Ladybug". The plastic insects will be used with our sensory and sand tables. The insect counters will be used for counting, sorting and classification activities. The books will allow the students to look at non-fiction information on insects that is appropriate for their learning level. Our school year is flying by - help us enhance our learning with these materials!
