My students are amazing and eager learners! The majority of my students are from low-income families, many speaking languages other than English and some living in difficult situations. Despite these obstacles, they come to school every day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn.
My students come to school wondering what we are going to learn about today!
They enter the room looking around to see what new activities are ready for them to work on. I try to make my classroom a place the students are eager to come to every school day!
My Project
This project is for a PreK curriculum that aligns with what is used in our Kindergarten classrooms. Many of my students are English Language Learners, and this is also their first experience in a classroom. Many are being exposed to letters and letter sounds for the first time.
By exposing my students to the same curriculum as they will be using in Kindergarten, they will already be familiar with the language and expectations of the program.
The Foundations program tends to have a lot of vocabulary, so this early exposure will familiarize the students with the language. It will prepare them with the basics. The focus will then be on learning to read rather than the language of the program.
