My students need to learn how to think outside of the box as well as follow visual instructions. The Magna Tiles and Engineering Kits will foster their creativity while teaching them how to problem solve.
I have the privilege of teaching our nation's future! It all starts at Pre-K. My class is filled with energetic four and five year old students that are thirsty to learn. Our only problem is funding. Our public Pre-K Program is a classroom of 16 students located within a Title I school in eastern North Carolina.
This year our classroom did not receive any new materials beside glue sticks and basic crayons.
Hopefully we can get our sticky hands on awesome STEM materials to encourage our curiosity. Our listening ears can use child appropriate headphones. We want our students to be ready to compete in our ever changing world and would love new technology to help gear our young minds to think about the future.
My Project
My students need new materials in order to foster their creativity. Our current manipulative center is filled with old stringing beads, a few Mr. Potato Heads and puzzles that are missing pieces. We are requesting the Design and Engineering Kits which will encourage our preschoolers to use visual instructions in order to build new structures. The Magna Tiles will encourage our students to organize, arrange and design new structures. These activities will help improve their eye hand coordination, visual spatial skills and fine motor skills. The stand-up Magnetic Write and Wipe Center will maintain the Engineer-A-Coaster organize within the classroom. Meaning no lost pieces!
