Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our classroom is an inclusive child-centered environment that provides opportunities for child interests to be explored. These materials will aid in academics, social development, and communication needs. Due to the addition of virtual learning in prek, as an educator I feel I must ensure my students receive engaging and interactive lessons while in their homes.

"It's not where you're from that matters, it's how hard you're willing to work, to achieve your dreams." Surrounded by abandoned houses, in our inner city school, we receive an education, family-oriented classrooms, and guidance.

Donors and other resources help to aid me in developing a classroom that is well-equipped for all styles of learning through technology.

Our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks to ensure they are eating a healthy balanced meal. Although faced with some barriers at such a young age, they are simply amazing. We must help students engage with books and have useful tools can enhance their learning.

My Project

The best part of prek is having fun and engaging learning opportunities. Its normally a hands-on classroom full of student exploration. Due to the pandemic, we are currently learning virtually. Our students continue to need engagement but we must be more creative. Boomcards allow for students to actively manipulate or answer questions on their own devices by moving objects around. Also, these cards can be utilized by the teacher as a supportive tool during small groups and independent interventions.

Whether it is letter knowledge, phonemic awareness, math skills, or themed related activities, these boom cards will allow students ways to enhance their learning virtually.

it also provides parents opportunities to work with their young learners at home because students can be assigned their own boom learning cards by skill level. With this teacehrspayteachers donation, I can use boomcards to introduce a lesson, as a modeling tool, or check for student understanding of an objective being taught. Keeping their attention is one of the biggest hurdles in online prek and boomcards help to make this a success.
