My Students

Boys will be boys! Most of my students are boys and they love cars, trains, boats airplanes, and all the things that go! Also, they are interested in building with blocks and fun games. We are in need of these types of high interest toys that unite them together for much needed social interactions.

I teach kindergartners/first graders with autism.

Most of them are boys who are curious learners. We are located in a regular elementary school setting where 80% of the student body is on reduced/free school lunch. Due to the severe budget cuts in education and the school's demographics, teachers have to be very creative to obtain resources that are needed for effective teaching.

My Project

My students, who have autism, need purposeful training in social skills in order to actively interact with their peers. They tend to keep to themselves if left alone. The high interest toys that I am requesting will inspire and motivate them to play together during teacher guided play time. They will learn to share toys, take turns and have conversations while they engage in pretend play with cars, trains and other things that go, which they love. We are in great need of toys that promote social interactions since most of the toys that we have in our classroom are old or broken.

My students, who have autism, would love to have toys that encourage them to play with one another and learn social interactions.

High-interest toys such as a train set, toy vehicles and blocks will inspire and motivate them to play with peers given teacher guidance. We are faced with severe budget cuts in our school district and are located in an economically challenged school. We would very much appreciate your support for our project!
