Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher at a Title I school in Pittsburg, CA, and I am continually asking the students to bring in pictures from home so that we can make a connection between home to school. My students rarely bring pictures in and I just could not understand this. One day, I asked my students why they did not bring any pictures in, and they simply said, ?We don't have any?. It had never occurred to me that they may not have pictures. What I would like to do is build a bridge between school and home by taking pictures throughout the year and creating a scrapbook. At the end of every month I would like to have the students pick out a couple of pictures and make a page. As part of this project, the students will write their own captions. We will also include writing samples from the beginning to the end of the year. At the end of the year, they will be able to take the book home and share their memories with their families. This will help to create positive school memories and help the parents share in these memories. This is a three part proposal. This part of the proposal is for the photo printer. Having a photo printer is a large part of this project. My school printer cannot print out photo quality pictures, nevermind all the ink it would use. I had to choose a printer that is not connected to my school computer because my computer has seen better days.
