My Students

Help us to be motivated as we touch our way to build our literacy and math skills.

We are an inner city public school with a diverse group of learners which include English Language Learners as well as students with special needs.

A one-size-fit- all approach is not effective to meet the diverse range of 54 learners in our Pre-Kindergarten program. This program includes both a full day and half day schedule.

My Project

Children will use apps on their iPod to trace uppercase and lowercase letters and numerals. They can also trace words ,as well as play the alphabet song. Children will be motivated as they practice letter sounds, shapes, colors, and counting. As the teacher, I can set the iPod to individualize practice for my students. For each topic, I can view statistics and see how many times the children identified each letter, number, shape, or color correctly, along with a percentage. Children will also be able to listen to stories in other languages.

It amazes me how intuitive young children are with tech gadgets.

Even children who typically need assistance with real world activities, will pick up the iPod and start touching, poking, and flicking pages like they have been doing this all their lives. Your donation will motivate my students as they build and increase their literacy and math skills.
