This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our Pre-K class is a very dynamic group of children! They enjoy dancing, singing, listening to read alouds, digging in the sand, riding tricycles, block building, pretending in the house area, drawing, painting, and playing math games. The children come from many different cultures across the world and many speak another language other than English. We are located in what has been claimed to be the most diverse borough of NYC, Queens. Our school is a public charter school for children currently Pre-K – 3rd grade and growing to 5th grade within the next two years.
My students are captive story listeners and engaging storytellers.
We’ve created supportive language arts activities such as felt storyboards and story pieces from class favorite books such as The Mitten, The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Pig and Can’t You Sleep Little Bear? Every student enjoys the opportunity to react these stories by practicing their oral storytelling skills. Their growth in expressive language has multiplied and with the help from DonorsChoose, we cannot wait to see additional growth in our children's early literacy skills.

Our class enjoys creative stories that they can retell and recall. We are very excited to hear about how DonorsChoose can help us build a very special library center with a child size sofa couch and chair set to enjoy reading books and listening to stories with our new CD player and collection of stories on CDs.
