Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are comprised of 15 four and five-year-olds who are creative, spontaneous, and excited about their first year of school. They love to come to school every day to learn and play with their very first friends. Some of the students in my classroom are students with learning, physical, and/or emotional disabilities.
Most of my students come from low-income households and in some cases, the materials I like to provide for them at school are the only ones they have in their lives.
Our school community is a warm and friendly place where the children thrive to learn.
This year, the children are as enthusiastic as ever. They have already made many friends. My goal for them is to be able tonprovide a place where they can build relationships and also a place where they feel safe and right at home. I would like to have intentional materials handy to be able to keep them engaged throughout the day and be better equipped to enter kindergarten next year!
Our school is an awesome place where the children feel like they are part of a community. The district has limited resources and they give us as much as they can.
My Project
These portable top desks will be used in the carpet during all our curriculum activities, such as buddy reading, writing activities, math games and more.
While the children sit comfortably and secure on their individual floor desks they will be able to practice social distancing in the classroom, yet they will be close enough to maintain social interactions.
I cannot wait to see their faces when they enter the classroom and see their portable top desks on the carpet ready for them to learn and pretend play with the friends they have missed so much during this pandemic.
