My students need a variety of STEM educational tools such as Sphero and Bee Bot to become confident using technology to solve problems and answer questions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with a diverse group of four and five year old students. They come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and family structures. My students have a wide range of ability levels and needs. They love coming to school to interact with their friends and learn something new.
When my students walk into the classroom they are filled with curiosity and excitement about everything around them.
As this is many of my students first school experience, I hope to create a positive classroom environment that inspires my students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
My students are growing up in a technological world and I believe as an educator it is my job to tech them how to use the tech that is so present in their lives. Sphero the Robot, Bee-bot, Code and Go Mouse, batteries, books, and tinkering materials will allow my students to become familiar and comfortable with adding technology into their play. By providing these materials to my students I hope to elevate what they are already learning and give them the opportunity to learn new content.
In order for my students to become 21st century learners, they must be given authentic opportunities to wonder, ask questions, and solve problems.
The use of tech materials in my classroom will help expand my students understanding of how things work, how to preserver when something breaks or does not go as expected and to set the foundations for our future computer scientists, inventors, coders and engineers.
