Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Pre-K in an inner-city, low-income public school where just over 99% of our school is on free or reduced-price lunches. Even though many students in my class have difficult home lives and struggle with social/emotional dysregulation, they are amazing! They are an enthusiastic bunch and are always eager to learn. For the most part, I have found my students of this age to be joyous, exuberant, energetic, and ready for anything. I strive to create a learning environment that feels safe, happy and is consistent for my students.
Regardless of the challenges we face as a class, we always have fun, learn, and make the best of every day we share together.
They are an amazing bunch of little people!
My Project
My students love to come to school. Even during this strange time of face to face and/or remote learning, my students want to come to school for face to face learning. I try to make their school day as normal as possible, but we do have restrictions due to COVID 19. One "new normal" we have is playground restrictions. During our recess time, only 1 class is allowed on the playground equipment. We rotate through the week, but when it's not our turn, we need to play on the blacktop.
With playground balls and jump ropes, we will be able to enjoy our time on the blacktop.
The materials from this project will enhance their recess enjoyment and allow them to improve their gross motor skills at the same time.
