My students need a teacher with a more current computer. My classroom computer is more that 10 years old. it is very slow and difficult to transition to different activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title 1 school. All of my Pre- K students are on free or reduced lunch. My students are all from different places including Haiti and Puerto Rico,
Technology is probably the second most important thing in education, literacy being number one.
As a Title 1 teacher I have I have been teaching in Miami Dade Public Schools for 31 years. We are one of the largest districts in the country with many budgetary issues.
I have been using an 11 year old computer in the classroom, It is becoming increasingly slow and frustrating.
My students are very excited about learning new things and are very attentive and inquisitive. They are patient while I am trying to switch from one activity to another. I am beginning to lose my patience :)
My Project
Technology is a key component in the classroom. Our tittle 1 students deserve access to state of the art technology but it seems that each year there are budgetary challenges. There is wasted time in my classroom because my computers are so slow. A faster computer would enhance my classroom instruction. Our computers are more than 10 years old and they are becoming more and more challenging. I would be able to use the new computer for instruction and for lesson preparation. The students would be able to use the computer to complete the online programs that they are expected to utilize for fifteen minutes daily.
