Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from an urban area with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing the challenge of learning English as well as maintaining their home language. This can be frustrating for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well being.
They are enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated learners.
I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in an environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences.
My Project
I have requested listening center materials for my class. My students love books, and one way for them to further their love of books is by hearing the stories on audio. A CD player with Bluetooth is a form of technology that is a must in any listening center, and will be an added bonus for my students. I will teach my students how to use the CD player with Bluetooth, so that they can play the story CD of their choice, such as "Where The Wild Things Are".
The Listening Center will add a new dimension to the classroom learning experience for all my students.
I have asked for a radio transmitter and receiver, so that my students can listen to various stories on wireless headphones. The wireless headphones allows my students to choose where they want to listen to the stories in the classroom, and not to be confined to one place. I want my students to have a well rounded experience in my classroom, and the listening center will be an asset to further their love for literacy.
