Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I'm a New York City teacher in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. I teach pre-kindergarten in P.S./I.S. 323. It is very hard for our school to get supplies because we are a Title One school in a low-income area. About 95 percent of our students receive free lunch. My students are so eager to do literacy and math activities, but unfortunately, we lack the supplies and materials for them to learn to skills. I have a lot of educational videos that would enhance their skills through watching and learning, but I lack the visual technology to show them. We have one T.V./VCR in our school and it's very hard to reserve it because testing grades get first choice. But administration doesn't realize that education starts in Pre-K. We are the foundation of education and if the children don't learn in early grades, they definitely will not learn in testing grades. This T.V/VCR would be a blessing to our classroom. It will help us show videos that would help the children in future grades increase scores. My children will definitely enjoy having this asset to our classroom. Thank You in advance for funding this proposal.
