My students need science! They need to explore with touch water beads and see ocean animals grow. The jumbo magnifiers will help enlarge objects for deeper exploration. We will learn about dinosaurs, butterfly and ocean animals!
My students are always on the go! They love hands-on learning and learning how things work. The children love to build things and are constantly looking for materials to create with. We have in the moment learning when the students create things from blocks and we can discuss and compare their structures. Many of the students learn from their group members as they build and talk about their creations. Our school serves students with disabilities, gifted learners and students from military families. Most get their start to education in Pre-K and I want to make sure they get the best start possible!
My Project
SCIENCE! My students need science in their school life! We want to learn about the ocean by manipulating ocean animal toys in our science center. We will use squishy water beads in the sensory center to simulate the ocean and put the animals in it. Students also need to learn about dinosaurs and our current dinosaur count is very low. We will use bugs and butterflies to learn about spring and life cycles. My students are always excited to use tools when doing science experiments. We will use the mason jars to make butter from cream and learn about how the motion changed the physical form. We will use magnets, jumbo magnifiers and droppers to observe and manipulate different items in and outside the classroom. For our space and light learning, we will use flashlights to make constellations!
Having these materials will help me keep their interest just a bit longer so that I can implement important science lessons.
My students would love to be more hands on and independent with their learning. When we have enough materials for each student to use at the same time, students can learn in the moment rather than wait to take a turn. We would put the items to great use in the last few months of the school year!
