Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember playing in the Home and Living Center as a child? We have added three new classes but we have no materials for them. Each of us has had to divide the few things that we had. Basically, the cupboards are bare in the Home and Living Center. Please help!
Our school is an inner-city school in a large urban area.
Our school has four full day pre-kindergarten classes. All of these children come from economical disadvantaged homes and over 50% come from homes where English is not spoken. Our children speak Spanish, Kirin, Nepalese and other languages. For 95% of the children, pre-kindergarten will be their first experience away from home.
My Project
I am asking for materials for the Home and Living Centers. These include: plastic pots and pans, plastic play food, and plastic dishes (plates, cups, forks, knifes, spoons, a coffee pot and a tea pot.) Right now the children only have a very few items to play with in this center.
The Home and Living Center is one of the favorite centers in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom.
Right now we have a few items in this center because we have had to take the resources from one center and divide them between four teachers. A lot of language development and positive social engagement occurs in the Home and Living Center. Please help!
