Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the music teacher to an entire school district's 3 and 4-year-old Pre-K students. Every week, over 350 learners will come through my door, eager to try out new things and explore music in new ways.
My students are curious, imaginative, and loving little people who sing and create with me every week.
They are both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking bilingual students in a rapidly growing area of Texas.
I am in a Title I district, which means many of my students lack the advantages of more prosperous areas of town. As a Pre-K teacher, my job is to make their musical beginnings as rich and meaningful as possible before they head off to elementary school and beyond.
My Project
I am requesting a new, interactive and improved map and geography center! For ten years, I have put up bright, attractive US and world maps in my room. They are like a magnet for children, because there is so much to look at and explore. I even made it into its own center for my Pre-K music classroom. Unfortunately, the wear and tear of small hands have made this their last year to grace my walls.
I need to replace my torn up map posters and broken pointers with an interactive map rug, a globe, books and puzzles.
