This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss in our county public school system.
Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss.
Each student has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting. Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary campus, the middle school campus, or the high school campus. In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout our county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full-time placement on one of the campuses.
Services are also provided in neighboring counties. We currently have over 70 children in our elementary campus but serve over 350 students throughout the school system.
My Project
Having three and four year old students on our campus keeps us young! However, sometimes the Pre-K students get minor scrapes and bruises and need minor first aid materials!
These materials will be used throughout the school year to keep our Pre-K students healthy and ready to take on the day!
The bandaids will be used for our Pre-K babies when they have small scrapes and need a quick fix!
The belts, underwear, socks, pants, and diapers will be available for our students when they have a small accident and need a quick change of clothing. They are still learning to use the bathroom and sometimes have accidents.
The toothpaste will help teach the students the importance of daily brushing and get the on a routine for the rest of the lives.
The cleaning wipes will help ensure that the surfaces they touch are clean and their hands can't spread any germs to their friends!
The double stroller will be used to help transport students who have medical conditions that make it difficult for them to walk an extended length around safely.
The keyboard and batteries will give our Pre-K students a fun outlet to play during the school year!
