I work with a great group of preschool students that come from varying ethnic and socially economic backgrounds. Our students come in every morning enthusiastic and ready to learn. They are a very energetic, talkative and fun loving group who love to ask questions. Our school is located in a low income community. We strive to provide a safe learning environment for our students.
Hands-on learning is what our energetic students need to succeed.
We are trying to provide more of this learning style to prepare our students for higher grades to come. Our goal is to provide our students with a preschool learning experience that they will carry with them for years to come.
My Project
We have a great group of kids that we teach using the Creative Curriculum. One of the theme units we work on is Clothing! For this project, we would love to let the students explore clothing design and create their own unique clothes using the Cricut machine we are hoping to get and the materials that go along with it. The students will work with technology using the computer to design a iron on for on a piece of clothing and then use the iron on material and Cricut machine to create the design. We will then be able to use the Cricut Press to make sure their design stays on the clothing! We will be able to create clothes to use in our dramatic play area, to wear during special occassions with parents and many other occassions.
We can explore our clothing unit and the students will be able to create and design in ways that they never have and be so proud of their own work!
And the fun won't stop with just designing clothes, this will give the students the opportunity to design cards and games, signs and learning materials over a very long period of time in our classroom!
