Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with 18 wonderful and inquisitive Pre-Kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.
Our Pre-K students love to learn new things daily!
For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines, and many new concepts in various subjects! They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learner they are and learn concepts in many different ways!
My Project
Unfortunately, this year my class did not have art class. Instead, I have tried my best to incorporate art into our daily learning. The children have free access to an art center daily and absolutely love creating art!
Since the art center is so popular, many of our art supplies have been used or worn out.
The children love art so much and would really appreciate having materials to keep creating art on a daily basis.
Our class is especially interested in drawing. Our class needs drawing materials such as an art tablet, a light up tracing pad, tracing paper, and a stand for these items. We also need paint, brushes, and paint cups to refill our painting supplies that have run out. As the year comes to an end, I would love for my students to engage in creating hardcover Pre-K memory books complete with art they created throughout the year and pictures!
