Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This will be my first year teaching art in public school. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I will have roughly 500 students from pre-k to 3rd grade. Our students come from lower socioeconomic households.
Last year we were hit pretty hard by Hurricane Harvey.
We didn't go back to school until late October. We lost so much. Currently we have a new school that is being built behind our current school. In the meantime, for this year, I will be split between two campuses. One for pre-k/k and the other campus is 1st-3rd.
I am looking forward to teaching art to these children because it will be their first experience learning about art. Our schools haven't had an art program for 20 years.
My Project
The “A Place For Everyone Classroom carpet for 20” I need will be benefiting my pre-k and kindergarten students because they no longer have to be uncomfortable sitting on the cold, tile floor. The students will now be able to spread out and sit comfortably and be happy and ready to learn. They currently have no soft seating and when I am reading to them an art book or demonstrating a lesson, there is only the cold tile to sit on.
I also need “Mobile Teaching Flip Chart Writing Easel”.
I currently have no white board at all in my room. The white board will benefit the students because they will be able to do “Guided Drawing lessons” which benefits them because they will have another mode for learning. A visual mode. I can’t do guided drawing lessons when I don’t have a white board and that HINDERS their learning.
As you know most teachers print their own things in color. As the art teacher it is hard to print my visuals in black in white when it has to do with "color". So I need HP - 952 Combo Pack 3-pack Ink Cartridges - Yellow/ Cyan/ Magenta, so I can print the posters and examples I have to show them so they can see it in color. It benefits them because instead of seeing the examples of Claude Monets Lillies in black and white they get to see the beautiful lavenders and blues of the painting. They will get MORE out of the lesson.
I need Pacon Art1st Watercolor Paper so the students can do lessons that require water color paper. The students will benefit because they will have the proper supplies for the lesson.
