I teach History and Geography to college preparatory high school students. My school serves over a thousand students from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Changing mandates and student demographics are among our many challenges. Our school has not received the same funding as schools with students with lower SES, so we lag behind with technology and supplies.

My students need 2 round activity tables to complete essential class activities. With the new classroom tables set up, my student can enjoy more hands-on and cooperative history and geography lessons, including using maps and playing games. Group activities prepare students for college by improving their interpersonal skills needed for group projects, discussion, and lab courses in college.

The atmosphere of a classroom makes a big difference, and while the teacher lends to this, the classroom environment, including different seating arrangements, helps. You can help us build a classroom community not hindered by ancient torture devices (those Pre-historic desks)!
