How do we prepare students for technology, engineering, and science based careers that do not even exist yet? We are living in a rapidly growing, fast paced world that revolves around the internet and technology. As an educator, my challenge is to prepare my young students to think in a way that stimulates their creativity while helping them develop a mathematical and scientific foundation in order to understand the world around them.
The students in my classroom include many GATE students who are looking for a way to expand their intellectual horizons.
They are enthusiastic, creative, driven, and engaged. These students are constantly redefining my role as a classroom teacher as we work together and learn from one another's experiences. My ultimate goal for these students is to help them develop a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.
My Project
My 5th grade students need Dash Robots and Kindles so they can develop coding skills. They will use these to work in groups to complete coding missions. The Wonder Workshop creates great educational curriculum that I will use to guide the students as they build their coding knowledge.
The students will love to compete against each other in competitions!
If I receive these robots I will be able to add coding into my weekly curriculum. I would also love to be able to share these robots with other 5th grade classes. It would be amazing to use this technology to create an after school or lunch club for our students.
