My Students
My students come to school from the immediate neighborhood.
They come from low income families with most of them having only one parent struggling to hold the family together or from families that don't speak English.
They suffer from low academics and many suffer from ADHD and other learning disabilities, including Autism. They come to learn, but some days it is a struggle to keep them on task. I have to make sure that we are always on the move and we have a lot of hands-on activities and movements planned for the day.
My Project
The use of dry erase boards in a kindergarten classroom is one of the best ways for students to practice writing their letters, sight words and numbers. The boards allow students to answer questions, work together and share problems with each other.
We need dry erase markers to continue practicing with our dry-erase boards and newly acquired dry-erase tables.
The use of the markers on the boards and tables will help my students with basic math, sight word writing and handwriting skills. It will boost their confidence and allow for greater practice than what they can do with paper and pencil.
