Help me give my students the percussion equipment they need to practice both in the classroom and at home. Our students need sticks and practice pads to allow them to play without disturbing their families and neighbors.
Our students come to school wanting to prepare for a better life once they leave high school. They work every day toward the ultimate goal of graduation. For our students, most of them will be the first to graduate high school in their families.
Our students are immigrants from all around the world.
They show that no matter where you are from, everyone can work together toward a common goal of community success. Our students, staff, and administration celebrate every achievement and build on every milestone toward graduation. Our students are committed to success.
My Project
As our music program continues to grow, so do our needs for additional materials. Our percussion students need drum pads for practicing both at home and during class in addition to new sticks for practice and performance. Our students use drumsticks to practice in every situation and everywhere they go. Because they are used almost every day, the sticks wear down relatively quickly. By upgrading our sticks to the Vic Firth SD1 Generals, we will get longer use out of the sticks in addition to increasing the quality of our students' sound.
The donations to this project will also encourage our students to practice more often and master their craft in addition to protecting their hearing.
By purchasing the Evans 2-Sided RealFeal practice pads, our students are able to recreate the feeling of playing on an actual drum while using portable equipment that significantly reduces the volume of their playing. Using a drum pad during in-class rehearsal will preserve our students' hearing and further our efforts of encouraging our students to be conscious of hearing safety.
