My Students
My students inspire me to find different ways to cover every learning style. They prove that not everyone learns in the same way, and at the same rate. They ask questions and make suggestions that guide my teaching. Their needs are what drive the class discussions and activities, and each group has been different.
Our class is focused on positive growth and inspiration to do better.
We discuss mistakes, and how they help us learn. Second graders are scientists at heart, and are still willing to take risks. They are not focused on being perfect. They are still learning the rules of life, school, home, and friendship. This is an exciting time because their beginning reading skills allow them to finally read to learn!
My Project
Earlier this year, I applied for and received a grant for an amazing math fact fluency program that tracks individual progress and moves students up at their own pace. In order to comply with the grant, students need to practice 2-3 times a week, 15-25 minutes per session. We only have one computer lab day per week, and have a classroom set of iPads for the entire school to share. I tried checking iPads out, but there seems to always be a problem getting students logged on. I need my own, especially for the students who cannot practice at home. I am requesting 2 iPads for my students to use to help them get that extra practice.
