My Students

Immediately after my student teaching, I was offered the opportunity of a lifetime and given a first grade classroom! It has been an amazing learning experience for me and my students! Due to the fact this is my first year teaching, I am trying to grow my resources.

My students come from all walks of life, all with very different learning needs.

I currently have 19 students in total with abilities ranging from beginner ELL’s to advanced readers! My school serves students preschool through 3rd grade and has a high population of low income families. There are some students in my class that their only opportunity to use many different resources is at school!

My Project

In my classroom, my students use dry erase markers more often than the traditional #2 pencil! The students from math to literacy to social studies and science, can always be found with a dry erase marker and white board in hand. Helping to fund this project will ensure that our lessons continue to run smoothly.

We follow the "I do, we do, you do" model in my classroom, especially for math.

Using the white boards enables the students to practice the model that I am demonstrating and allows for errors and self corrections. I am able to quickly look at their work in a whole group setting and make adjustments to practice as needed.
