My Students
I work with 52 fantastically inquisitive fourth grades who absolutely love learning. A rather diverse group of individuals that love to learn and ask questions. They are boisterous and energetic. They are wiggly and giggly!
They are at their best when they are interacting with each other and materials that make concepts real for them.
My inquisitive fourth graders are very visual and kinesthetic learners. Their love for math, science, and learning is something that I want to help foster.
My Project
In our fourth grade classroom, instruction takes place in several different formats. One of the most well-used formats is small group work. 70% of our instruction happens in small groups where students feel more comfortable asking questions and thinking about the parts of the concepts that they do not understand yet. Many times those misconceptions can be helped by using a visual representation of the concept we are learning.
Your donation will help provide a great variety of math manipulatives that will help not only our struggling students but all of our students to better visualize and understand topics such as fractions and measurement.
I would love to start developing a manipulative checkout system. This would allow students to check out the manipulatives that would help them for reinforcement work at home, and return it the next day.
