My Students

My students are amazing. They are trying to learn to read every day in class. They are taking home a book every night and doing weekly homework. They work hard every day during small intervention groups. They are nice to each other and trying to be safe, respectful, and responsible.

Some of my students come from very hard home lives but they come with a smile every day.

Some of my students have a hard time speaking English but they try hard every day.

My Project

All of my students are learning and sharing each day. Sometimes they learn on iPads and white boards. Having the right tools in the learning process can make all the difference. We are engaged every day with Lexia Core 5 (reading )and i-Ready (math) which are programs that let students progress at their own pace. After lessons, the students then have the opportunity to practice. White boards are the one of the perfect tools. Sharing what they have learned with a buddy or with me is easy. Mistakes can be erased and corrected easily.

What becomes a problem is the fact that cheap headsets do not last, the cords on the headsets get knotted and I have to untangle them daily, the markers never seem to last, erasers get worn out, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.

Taking the time to help student with tools takes away from my teaching time.

These resources will help my students especially during the Covid pandemic because they will be able to store their equipment properly and they will not need to SHARE with classmates because we will have enough to go around. This equipment will help in reading (phonics practice) and math (addition, subtraction place value, etc.) with practice activities that we do daily.
