Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students attend a public school in an urban district. It is a Title I school with approximately 90% of the students qualifying for a free or reduced price lunch.
My students truly appreciate everything they receive and have access to in the classroom.
Many of my students do not even come to school with their own pencils, let alone any other school supplies to help them succeed. They love being introduced to new concepts and new materials. Their excitement shows every day in all of the work that they do.
My Project
Our school does not have the money in the budget to supply printer/copy paper or ink to teachers. The ink and paper I purchased with the help of my $125 yearly allowance has already been used up. Without ink for printing or paper for printing/copying/writing, my students must rely on their own notebooks or notebooks provided by me. It is difficult for second grade students to copy things accurately into notebooks and to complete independent tasks accurately. With ink and printer paper, I am able to print the latest materials that align with the standards being taught for my students to use during lessons. In addition, my students can use the paper for various learning activities throughout the school year.
