I have had the privilege of coaching softball for the past 8 years! During that time I have also had the privilege of getting to know and work with some amazing young women that want nothing more than to play the game of softball.
Having the right equipment to play the game is important for success in the game, but also is important to prevent injuries.
Our school district is a very small district in SW Missouri. The budget for sports does not allow for many purchases and we rely heavily on the girls providing their own equipment.
My Project
The resources I am requesting are for both the softball and baseball team at my school. I am lucky enough to coach softball for my school, but since we often share space some of the equipment is used by the baseball team as well.
Let's face it we all know in sports there is only one way to get better, practice!
The equipment I am requesting for our teams is to help with just that, practice. We are in need of new practice balls for both teams, so that we are not throwing around torn or water logged balls. The total control weighted balls are a great tool to use for practicing batting, especially in a confined area, such as a gym or outfield. Both teams can make use of the total control balls. We also find ourselves in need of quality bases to put down wherever practice may take place. With a spring sport you never know if you will be on the actual field or somewhere else for practice so have bases to use allows us to practice as if we are on the field. The last item is for a ball caddy. This will make our batting cage practice go so much faster since it can hold a lot more balls than a crate or bucket.
Practice is the key to getting better on the field and all the items I have requested go toward that goal. Quality practice equipment is a must in order to continue to improve for the season.
