Ms. Saltsman from Louisville KY is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a double sided storage unit and another table, as well as additional seating in order to allow for more learning centers and space.

I have 8 students in an Early Head Start classroom which range from 2-3 years old. They had to qualify for the EHS program based on their families' economic needs at home and/or in some cases because they will need special services.
I am responsible for setting a positive, caring, and engaging environment for them.
I am their first school experience and want them to know learning can be fun so I can instill a lifelong love of learning.
My students learn through center time. A great deal of their day is spent in practice centers where they can independently work on skills they are learning. Practice centers are the best place to teach them, we love meeting them at these centers and working on skills with them.
We currently can only open about 4 centers a day and things are very unorganized so we need more storage units and another table to allow us to efficiently implement centers.
Each piece of furniture I am requesting already has a very specific "home" in mind in my classroom. The double-sided storage unit will allow me to create two new centers. I will create a writing center on one side (currently our writing center is in the "art" center as well so my students are stuck between choosing arts and crafts or us having them focus on pre-writing skills. As you can imagine, anytime they are at the art/writing center they choose art. I want to create a separate spot for pre-writing materials (such as play dough, notebooks, and writing utensils). The other side will allow me to create a "fine motor" center where my students will have access to a variety of fine motor toys and products. Fine motor development is crucial in early childhood and it currently shares space in the "puzzles" center. I would create a specific fine motor center and then have a strictly puzzles center. The table will be placed on the new fine motor side so they can have a place to bring their fine motor activities. I will then be able to move another storage unit I have already into a new place. If I get all this furniture I can then have a separate art, math, science, writing, fine motor, blocks, and puzzle center.
