My kindergarten students are part of an unique, diverse classroom. I teach in a Title I school, where over 60% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. I also have a high population of ELL and special education students in my room.
In my classroom, each student is recognized for the potential they have and I work hard at making our classroom a community where all students can learn.
I work closely with other teachers to help meet the needs of the students.
My Project
My students love hands on activities. If I can give them immediate practice on a skill we are working on they learn much better and information sticks with them longer. With these Kleenslate paddles, markers and eraser, students are able demonstrate their learning.
If we are working on math story problems, handwriting letters, stretching out words, or writing letters for given wounds, students are able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
With these paddles, students will be able to pick up one paddle and have all the items needed so we are not wasting time getting materials. They also have a side where I can slip in templates to further my students learning as well as my formative assessment.
As students are writing on the boards and holding them up, I can get a quick idea of how many students understand the topic we are working on. This quick formative assessment can help me guide my instruction to help move students to the next level or go back and reteach.
