This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our student population represents a very diverse collection of demographics. Many of our students, and their families, are considered low-income status residents within our community. As you can probably imagine, our students encounter a great deal of adversity as a result to their home life experience.
For our students, the art of musical expression represents a place of safety, and a space that will allow them to grow and learn as students, artists, and human beings.
Students who are involved in the band program have consistently displayed an increase in school attendance and academic achievement. Our students also aim to add value to the overall school environment by maintaining the highest level of character and integrity as student leaders.
My Project
The Sugarbear Marching Band is currently preparing to resume practice and performance activities after being inactive since March of 2020. In order to make sure we can maintain a safe environment for our students and band staff, we are in need of items that will help prevent the spread of droplets and germs.
The instrument bell covers will allow our students to rehearse as an ensemble and work towards the goal of achieving a superior music performance.
These items will help us cover the face of instruments while performing, and create a barrier for droplets and germs. With the use of instrument bell covers, we will be able to maintain a safe environment for our staff and students.
