My Students

My students are from every borough in New York City, and they commute long distances to our public high school for an Early College experience. The first few years at our school are quite intensive as we prepare them for their college level classes senior year.

To compliment this rigor, all school staff are dedicated to providing enriching and fun experiences that nurture our students’ curiosities.

Most years, my students often look forward to things like clubs and trips as a way to unwind from their academics. But this year, 2020, is quite different, and in order to provide a productive learning environment there are safety and psychological challenges.

My Project

As schools are being pushed to reopen for in-person learning this fall, it's clear that a shocking number of my students will not be able to afford adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep themselves safe on their commute to school and the hours that they'll be in the school building.

While the Department of Education has purchased lots of cleaning products, there has been little mention of extra masks or other basic PPE to keep students safe.

At the time of writing thing, the evidence of COVID-19 being transmitted via air (as opposed to via surfaces) is overwhelming. The supplies that we're requesting will literally keep students safe and healthy during this difficult time.
