I will have 32 awesome students who vary tremendously in their abilities and interests. I try to present the fifth grade core content in a way that gets them excited to learn while allowing them to be confident and successful. My students love learning when they are able to have hands-on experiences to discover the reasons behind phenomena they see in the world around them.
My students are enthusiastic to learn despite the many challenges they face.
The school I teach at is located in a low income area. My school was 1% away from being qualified as a Title l so we do not receive extra funding and resources for being low income. With a lack of funding, it is extremely difficult to provide the exciting and challenging opportunities that my students need to improve.
My Project
Through this project, I will get a circuit kit complete with wires, light bulbs, and switches. My students will have the chance to explore as they experiment to get the light bulb to work and then turn it on and off. Additionally, through Donor's Choose, I have already received several different kits to help my students learn about circuits. These kits will allow students to make sounds play, saucers fly, motors work, light bulbs turn on, etc. In order for my students to be able to use all of these wonderful kits, they will need batteries as their power source.
I can't wait to see my students' faces light up as they figure out how to make the circuits light up.
Being able to learn about circuits in a hands-on manner, will help my students to better remember the knowledge that they acquire.
