My Students are freshmen and sophomores who dream of one-day becoming health care professionals to serve those in need. When asked why they want to become a healthcare professional the most common response is, "I want to help others." Our Biomedical Science course is designed to give our students the opportunity to explore a variety of medical fields through the lens of case studies. These case studies are patients for whom they must keep a medical record as they navigate the possibilities of why they may be ill.
Our community is a border town where the majority of the community is of low socioeconomic status.
Many of our students are first-generation college-bound students. They dream of pursuing careers in the healthcare fields to help others so we begin that now in our small community. My students become involved in community projects to bring health care awareness to our community throughout the year. They work hard and compete in HOSA Future Health Professionals and have represented the state of Arizona at the International Conference for the past 7 years.
Technology continues to advance and while it makes learning fun and innovative, it also requires a lot of POWER! The extension cords requested will be used to power various electronic devices around the classroom. From laptops to pencil sharpeners, they each play an important role in the student's education. The cord covers will make sure that walking around the classroom is safe for all students, especially during laboratory assignments. The small chalkboards, chalk markers, and decal are to power the motivation of students throughout the year. We all need a little boost of inspiration once in a while. The chalkboards will be posted around the room with different motivational quotes throughout the year.
