My Students

My students are from a small community in Northern California. They are amazing kids from working class families. Like most kids in 2nd grade, they love school! They are motivated, driven and are eager to succeed.

My students work so hard!

We are a close community with lots of family involvement. I have 25 students and as the year progresses, it is amazing to see them come together and support and motivate each other. As a teacher, I strive to meet my students where they are academically and to support and encourage the celebration of diversity present in our school.

My Project

I am asking for a math and reading "Power Pen" set for my 2nd graders! They are the perfect way to get my students excited about practicing math and reading skills.

Making learning fun is very important to me!

I know that practicing math skills like addition and subtraction facts, telling time, and place value is not always the most fun thing for 7 and 8 year old children. But when you add a Power Pen to the equation... it becomes a game and all the kids want to participate!

I am hoping to get a set of these fun tools to use during center time while I meet with groups of students. Keeping them engaged in meaningful tasks is very important to me and super fun for them.
