Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I can't say enough wonderful things about my students. They are hard-working, creative, kind, and considerate. My class loves reading, writing, math, social studies, STEM, and learning about the world around them! These kids are eager and ready to learn!
We truly have a diverse learning community within our room.
This allows us to learn from one another. We have a very strong classroom community. My students look out for and care about each other. I teach at a Title I (high poverty) school in Virginia. Thank you for your consideration!
My Project
Financial literacy is an important skill that requires strong number sense and fluency. A major math skill we focus on in 2nd grade is addition and subtraction fluency. Being able to fluently add and subtract numbers allows students to more easily access financial literacy skills.
ETA hand2mind's Fluency Centers will help me learn new practices and strategies to teach my students.
I started using ETA hand2mind's Daily Math Fluency number talks this year and it has been very successful! ETA hand2mind provides teachers with professional development to successfully implement new strategies. Having this resource will allow me to help my students gain important skills they need to be able to work with numbers -- in all our math units, including our unit on money. The centers I've requested come with a guide for me and all the resources I will need to implement the centers. They will be used for years to come. Thank you for your consideration!
