Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My urban ESL classroom is full of energetic, creative, and eager young children. My students have very diverse backgrounds and learning styles since they come from many countries around the world.
I teach at a low-income, high-poverty school where 100% of the students get free lunches.
Our school also serves a free breakfast to all students and food is sent home over the weekends to help meet their needs. My goal, as their teacher, is to give them a learning environment where they are comfortable and feel inspired as they are growing and learning.
Donations to my classroom will make a tremendous difference in my students' lives. These young ESL students will be talking, planning, and improving their thinking and mathematical skills while collaborating on their learning as they learn their new language.
My Project
My young students are motivated by engaging learning activities that involve independent and collaborative work with partners. The 2-in-1 devices come with detachable full-size keyboards and can be used as computers or tablets. This project will also provide effective practice games to help young learners continue to be successful while learning new basic skills with innovative and standards-based curriculum. My goal is to facilitate innovative thinking among my students as they work independently and collaboratively during practice centers. Students will be focused as they practice foundational math skills and build their math fluency to prepare them for multi-step problem solving.
