My Students

Our students here in Minneapolis have experienced enough trauma to last several lifetimes.

Through impossible learning situations my students continue to persevere and show a love for creating art and performance of all kinds.

They are resilient, caring, funny and creative.

My Project

Our theatre program had to shut down production due to the pandemic. Instead of turning to pre-recorded performances from home, we instead turned our attention to writing an original work.

My students have written a play about their their experiences during distance learning and the uprising that followed George Floyd's murder, but they do not want to perform it through a computer screen.

They want to bring the performance to the people of their community. That means performing outside, at a distance.

Along with microphones we received from previous fundraising, we need these speakers to amplify the voices of the students who have poured their souls into a piece about injustice and inequality. Thank you.
