Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The motto for this school year is Creating Champions. In order to continue moving forward in our education through the circumstances we are experiencing in the world, we need a computer charging station in order to ensure that all students' laptops are charged and ready to go on the daily. This will give students an opportunity to navigate through assignments with ease without their laptops running out of battery. My students range from ESOL level 1-4 and are a set of well-behaved and responsible students. They come from families with a low socioeconomic status. My school is in a high poverty neighborhood where about 93% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Each of my 17 students is unique in their own special way and would greatly benefit from having a charging station for their laptops.
My Project
Having a laptop charging station will help students keep their computers charged throughout the day. It will help us keep safe in the classroom. Right now I have surge protectors connected to surge protectors which students accidentally trip on or turn off by mistake. We have plugs on one side of the room so we have 17 computer cables extended from their desk to the few plugs. We are always tripping on the cables and unplugging them by mistake. Having all these cables prevents the custodians from cleaning our room correctly.
Having a laptop charging station will help us stay safe, healthy, and keep our computers running all day long.
Our computers won't turn off while completing online assignments, lessons, or while taking our math and reading tests.
