Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school with a high population of ESOL students. I am constantly amazed by my students' desire to learn and the amount of determination they have to succeed. One of the best ways I have found to provide for all of my students' diverse needs is hands-on learning and technology integration. Technology is able to bring to life many of the abstract concepts that my students are learning about and allows them to interact with a concept, instead of merely reading about it.
Students who are actively engaged are able to learn more and at a deeper level.
Technology allows us to tailor the education to meet the educational and cultural needs of the students.
My Project
My classroom has almost reached my goal of being able to provide a 1:1 ratio using Kindle Fires. This will complete our set of Kindle, allowing a widened array of classroom experiences and lessons. Kindles have proved the most economical way to get technology and all that is provided into my students hands literally. We are able to use the notes from everything to self guided notes to virtual labs. It can be challenging to provide differentiation to the wide range of needs in classes that are predominantly ELL and ESE students but with technology every student can get the best education for them. The charging stations and cords will allow all the Kindles to be charged up and working at one time and with some creative thinking and awesome coworkers safely stored.
