This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 3rd grade to a bunch of amazing students in Atlanta. My class is full of exceptional students eager to learn. Our class is full of unique personalities and exceptional learners. Many of my students struggle academically, but they're hard workers and their spirit is infectious!
Our class motto is Unite and Conquer because we have to Unite as a TEAM to conquer our fears and weaknesses and be Victorious!
I believe in building a classroom community where each student's ideas, interests, and beliefs are woven into our lessons and activities and diversity is celebrated daily.
My students come to school each day eager to learn. They greet me each morning with a spark in their smiles and a zeal for knowledge in their hearts. Their parents work hard, and they participate in their children's schooling as much as they can. Over half of my students come from single parent families, and the majority have multiple siblings. I have become very intentional to expose my students to the world around them, not just their neighborhood.
My Project
Through PowerMyLearning, my students and their families can connect and access groundbreaking educational software. The PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program is designed for teachers to connect parents to their student through technology! The program includes professional development for the teachers and free access for the parents and students to PowerMyLearning's Family Playlists™, for the Entire Year!!
Family Playlists are multilingual, mobile-friendly homework assignments that deepen students’ understanding and strengthen their social-emotional learning by having them teach what they are learning to a family partner at home.
