My students need six DC power supplies with alligator clip cords in oder for the chemistry honors students to participate in a meaningful electroplating lab.
I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive, and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM-based chemistry and biology labs involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.
The students appreciate the opportunity to use the STEM lab equipment because it allows them to use technology while collaborating and using critical thinking to produce results which help prepare them for the future.
My Project
Many of my chemistry honors students are interested in learning electrochemistry because they are enrolled in either physics AP or chemistry AP next year. In fact, more than just learning about this topic, they are even more interested in exploring electrochemistry! In order to fulfill their curiosity, we need a few supplies.
Six power supply converters and six alligator clip will allow my students to conduct inquiry based labs in which they can perform electrolysis of water and electroplating.
These investigations will truly help them build confidence in a topic that is usually complex but still interesting! Giving them the tools needed to get out of their seats and collaborate is what helps make my class unique for the students.
