Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Out in the west Texas town of El Paso, we are leading students to be 21st-century learners includes all types of technology. Our engineering and science students use inquiry and technology to experience engineering and science, not just hear about it! Using hands-on activities exposes our students to real-world applications while staying in a safe environment.
We serve a population of over 50% economically disadvantaged students and over 10% limited English proficiency from several backgrounds.
Many of our students are also coming from military households causing them to move around the country throughout their education. While all students are in our classes, they truly become "our kids."
Giving our kids the best experience we can is our top goal. Supplying our kids with hands-on engineering experiences helps set our students up for success in today's education system and economy.
My Project
Covid-19 has changed the way educators teach on a daily basis. Now that our school building is opening back up, our students will be using their district provided lap tops at school. Students may forget to charge their device, the device might lose charge during the instructional day, or they may not have access to charge their device at home or where they are staying for now.
Creating charging stations for our students will enable them to continue learning throughout the day and use their digital devices.
We can help power up our students' devices while they are at school!
