Power Tools > Hand Assembly & Auto Shop
My students need power tools. Included are hammerdrill, impact driver, and drill. Also included are spare batteries and additional adapters/bits.
My school is lacking essentials like paper, much less power tools. There are some tasks which we simply cannot do at all, and others which take far longer than they should because we lack the necessary equipment.
Most of my students have never assembled something, or even seen something assembled.
The power tools included in this purchase would open an array of possibilities.
My school is high poverty, both in terms of student resources and government funding.
These tools will be immediately put to use putting together furniture. A task which normally takes hours will take a fraction of the time.
Typically, teachers and student volunteers have to spend hours and hours assembling furniture and doing general maintenance tasks that would be much faster with this project funded.
When not in use assembling furniture, the tools will reside and be used by the auto shop program. There, under direct teacher supervision, students will use the tools to further their practical skills. Learning the basics of safe tool usage under trained, adult supervision will provide them with a strong foundation they can build upon later.
There is no way we'll be able to afford these tools without this project.
In the past, we've wasted hours in assembling things by hand. The district won't fund it, nor will the PTSA, nor the alumni association. Your donation will make the difference between us being able to focus on our more essential needs, or continue wasting time doing everything by hand.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
